Customer Case – Examples of Solutions in Practice
Here we have gathered a selection of projects where we, together with the customer and manufacturer, have developed solutions tailored to specific requirements and applications. The case study shows how we work in practice – from component selection to adaptation and optimisation based on function, environment, and performance.
Examples of technical solutions in different applications
Our projects span multiple industries and technical areas – from power supply and sensor technology to frequency-stable solutions and custom components.
A common feature of the projects is that they start from clear requirements where functionality, reliability, and integration into the final application are crucial.

Customer Case: DC-DC
Customer case: Loudspeaker
An industrial customer contacted us regarding a redesign of their circuit board for production equipment with voice alarms. The existing solution used a circuit board-mounted speaker of 8 Ω / 1 W, but the customer wanted to connect the speaker via cable and connector in the new design, using a manufacturer specified by them. In collaboration with the manufacturer, we developed a customised solution where the speaker is supplied with the correct cabling and connector, simplifying assembly and providing greater design flexibility.
Customer case: kW transformers
For a customer developing a single-phase DAB DC/DC converter, we, together with our principal, developed a custom kW transformer for 100 kHz operation. The focus was on low weight, low losses, and efficient conduction cooling without airflow. The solution was based on copper foil windings, a 2:1 turns ratio, and functional isolation between the primary and secondary sides for square-wave operation up to 800 V. The transformer was optimised for mounting onto a heatsink with a maximum temperature of 65 °C, providing a compact and thermally robust solution for high power density.
Customer Case: Sensor Module
In close collaboration with our principal, we developed a robust sensor module based on a reed switch to indicate the valve position in the engine compartment of a bus. The application operates in a demanding outdoor environment with temperatures ranging from –30 to +65 °C. The sensor is activated when the magnet is screwed in and deactivated when the magnet is screwed out. By optimising the reed switch's AT range in combination with a permanent magnet with precisely defined dimensions, a reliable and cost-effective solution was developed for this non-corrosive environment.
Customer Case Study: Piezo Buzzers
Comptronic helps customers develop piezo buzzers that are tailored to their specific application. In many cases, it is sufficient to configure a standard product with, for example, different connectors, wiring, or mounting solutions. If necessary, parameters such as resonance frequency, sound pressure level (SPL), operating voltage, and signal type can also be adapted. For more demanding applications, entirely custom solutions can be developed where acoustic, electrical, and mechanical properties are optimised. As the perceived sound level is affected by how the buzzer is integrated into the product's enclosure, the resonance frequency and acoustic design can also be adapted to achieve the desired sound level in the finished product. Comptronic has experience in alarms and audio indication in both commercial and industrial products, including applications in demanding outdoor environments.
Customer case: power film capacitor
For a customer, in close collaboration with the manufacturer, we developed a custom 100 nF ±2 % film capacitor for 4000 VRMS in high-voltage safety equipment. The design is based on several film capacitors connected in series and parallel to achieve the correct voltage withstand and capacitance. Tolerances down to ±1 % are possible depending on requirements and manufacturing yield. The casing was optimized with rounded corners to reduce electric field concentrations, and cooling is provided by the aluminium casing. The placement of the terminals was adapted to the customer's mechanical requirements. The capacitor has a controlled temperature coefficient where the capacitance increases at −25 °C and decreases at +85 °C. For the first prototypes, the casing was manufactured manually, which enabled rapid development without high tooling costs.
Customer Case: Solar Cells
Comptronic, in collaboration with Anysolar, has developed a customised power supply solution for electronics located by a window. The solar panel was dimensioned and mechanically adapted to fit onto the window frame while also delivering sufficient power for the application. The cable type and length were also selected based on the customer's installation requirements to ensure simple assembly and reliable operation. The result was a compact and energy-efficient solution where the electronics can be powered directly from available daylight.
Customer Case: TCXO
For a client, in collaboration with Mtron, we developed a customised 250 MHz TCXO for an application with stringent frequency stability requirements. The client previously used a standard oscillator with ±50 ppm accuracy but needed to improve the tolerance by roughly an order of magnitude. The solution was a temperature-compensated oscillator with significantly better stability, while the design was dimensioned for robustness against shock and vibration. The selected 6-pad package is Mtron's standard version and does not affect vibration performance. As per the client's request, the component was delivered with Sn63 solder dip. Prototypes were produced where phase noise and G-sensitivity in three axes were verified, and the factory's and client's measurement setups were synchronised so that phase noise could be measured and compared uniformly.
